That’s malicious. If anybody watches the whole of the Naruto anime, they should do themselves a favor and not skip this filler arc. Commemorating 500 episodes of the anime, the six-episode power arc follows a fully formed Team Kakashi as they investigate the recent attacks on a village by Kabuto.
While there are some great episodes within these arcs, many are not essential for the plot to move forward and can be skipped since they aren’t a part of the manga.
The Naruto anime series ran from 2002 to 2007 with a total of 220 episodes. About 91 of those were filler episodes, Naruto had one of the highest filler percentage at 41%, almost half of all the episodes. Boruto: Next Generation had a smaller percentage of 20%.
This isn’t so much an arc as it is a collection of about 17 smaller arcs that make up 2 years of pointless Naruto episodes. The manga of the original Naruto series ended with the Sasuke Retrieval Arc. The two years that followed in the original cartoon were all headache-inducing filler.
What is the first full arc in Naruto?
While there are single filler episodes sprinkled here and there in the first 100 episodes of Naruto, the Land of Tea Escort Mission is the first full filler arc. It is the only mission that Team 7 goes on between the end of the Chunin Exams and Sasuke’s eventual defection to the Village Hidden in the Sound.
It is the second to last arc in the original Naruto anime before the time jump puts the story in Shippuden territory. In it, Naruto, Neji, and Tenten try to help a young man named Menma who has seemingly lost his memory and doesn’t know anything about who he is, as he tries to remember where he’s from.
In this mission, Naruto teams up with Hinata and Choji to travel to the Land of Vegetables to act as an escort for a group of merchants.
Naruto, Lee, and Sakura go on a mission to act as escorts for a wanted criminal named Gantetsu, along with Todoroki and a group of other guards. For plot reasons, Naruto ends up separated from his teammates and traveling only with Todoroki, who feels a lot of rage against Gantetsu, and Gantetsu himself.
11 Cursed Warrior Extermination Mission: Episodes 162-167. In this arc, Naruto once again teams up with Neji and Tenten, though Guy and Lee don’t join them on this mission, in order to investigate rumors of a warrior ghost in the nearby Land of Birds.
15 Mizuki Tracking Mission: Episodes 142-147. This arc mostly explains why Jiraiya, who immediately before this offered to take Naruto with him to train for three years, actually goes away for a while on a reconnaissance mission, giving Naruto a chance to participate in any number of filler missions in the meantime.
While episode 141 does wrap up the story of this arc, it also features Sakura making a major decision about her future as a ninja and Naruto is offered the chance to train with Jiraiya, both events that are actually a part of the manga canon and therefore might be worth checking out.

Naruto manga was still ongoing when the anime began . As a result, there wasn’t enough content for the anime creators to put in the anime, and hence, filler episodes were born!
